Today I stand before you, dear children of mine,
To join you in matrimony, a union divine,
As your father and guide, who’s watched you grow,
I offer these words, from a heart that glows.
You were first my daughter, my son, my pride,
Under my roof, where love and laughter reside,
I taught you the ways, of the Lord above,
And now, as your pastor, I offer this labor of love.
I’ll be biased, I confess, when disputes arise,
For I know your hearts, and your loving eyes,
But 50 years of marriage, have taught me the way,
To navigate life’s storms, come what may.
My wife and I, under one roof, we’ve stayed,
Through joys and fears, we’ve weathered every shade,
We’ve learned to love, through every up and down,
And now, I impart, this wisdom to this union’s crown.
There will be issues, in your home, it’s true,
But don’t let them divide, what love has brought anew,
For every storm, there’s a rainbow in sight,
And every test, will make your love shine brighter and light.
So I implore you, my son, to love your wife,
For as long as you breathe, through all of life,
It won’t be easy, for life brings its share,
Of challenges and trials, that will test your love and care.
Even the government, with laws and taxes high,
May test your love, and make your heart ask why,
But don’t let the tides, of doubt and fear,
Erode the love, that you’ve promised to hold dear.
Love your wife, through every up and down,
Through every storm, and every quiet town,
For love is the anchor, that holds us fast,
And with it, you’ll weather every blast.
Remember the vows, you make today,
To love and cherish, through every step of the way,
For marriage is a journey, of laughter and tears,
Of adventure and growth, through all the passing years.
