A Love as old as time – romantic poetry

category

Now we’re 90 years old, and still we stand,
Hand in hand, heart to heart, on this distant land.
81 years of love, of laughter and of tears,
A lifetime of moments, through all the passing years.

They ask us the secret, of our enduring flame,
But truth be told, it’s not just love that bears the blame.
We simply stayed together, through every test of time,
Through every force that sought, to tear our love apart in rhyme.

Our parents, our children, our friends and our work,
All tried to drive us apart, like a fork in the dirt.
The world didn’t understand, how two hearts could beat as one,
For so long, so strong, so steadfast, under the burning sun.

But here we are, a miracle, a love that’s stood the test,
A bond that’s weathered every storm, and still finds rest.
In each other’s eyes, we see a love so true,
A love that’s not enough, but just happened to see us through.

So let our love be a mystery, a wonder to behold,
A testament to the power, of a love that’s grown old.
For we’re the lucky ones, who defied the odds and fate,
And found a love that lasted, a love that still creates.
