In tranquil docks, a ship does lay
A cargo vessel, safe from the bay
The sea’s wild waves, a distant roar
As sailors rest, on the stable shore
But little do they know, or maybe they’ve forgot
A ship’s true purpose, is not to be caught
In comfort’s snare, where waters sleep
It’s built for adventure, for secrets to keep
The tides of fate, the turbulence too
Are where it’s meant to sail, its spirit anew
Through stormy nights, and endless blue
A ship’s heart beats, with a journey to pursue
The dock’s warm embrace, a temporary nest
But soon it must depart, and put to the test
Its mettle and might, against the unknown sea
For that’s where legends born, and stories be
The call of the deep, a siren’s song
Echoes through its hull, all day long
A reminder that safety’s not its goal
But the thrill of discovery, its ultimate role
So let it sail, through waves and gale
For in the uncertainty, its spirit will prevail
And though the dock, may offer peaceful rest
A ship’s true home, is where the horizon’s best.
