Cádiz CF faced FC Cartagena in the sixth league match of the season. Coach Paco López’s lineup consisted of: David Gil; Iza, Chust, Glauder, Matos; Ontiveros, Alcaraz, Fede San Emeterio, Escalante, Brian Ocampo; Chris Ramos.
The match began under a scorching sun in Cartagena, amidst the Cartagineses and Romanos festivities. Both teams struggled with precision in the early stages. Cartagena enjoyed more possession, allowing them to push forward and secure a few corners without posing significant danger to David Gil.
However, Cádiz CF responded with two clear scoring opportunities in the 18th minute. First, Ontiveros’ powerful shot hit the crossbar, and the play continued with Iza delivering a cross to Escalante’s header, forcing the local goalkeeper to deflect the ball out for a corner.
In the 22nd minute, Chris Ramos showcased his determination by recovering a ball headed out of bounds, turning toward the goal, and beating the local goalkeeper to secure a 0-1 lead.
Following the goal, Cartagena attempted to push forward, while Cádiz CF capitalized on counter-attacks but failed to finish due to errant passing.
