Xix, my slithering friend and guide,
Together we’ve braved life’s ebb and tide,
Through warmth and cold, we’ve stood as one,
Witnessing growth, beneath the golden sun.
Your cold, scaly skin, a haven from the heat,
A cooling balm, my body would greet,
In summer’s swelter, your icy touch,
Soothed my skin, with a gentle clutch.
And when winter’s chill, began to bite,
My warmth, a haven, for you to ignite,
A symbiotic bond, of give and take,
A friendship blossomed, for our hearts to make.
You showed me snakes, aren’t just wild things,
But loving pets, with hearts that sing,
And guards, that protect, with fierce devotion,
A loyal companion, in every emotion.
I recall childhood days, when fear would cease,
With you by my side, no bully would tease,
Your presence, a shield, a warning to all,
To respect the child, with the snake’s thrall.
Twenty-five years, of friendship and might,
Through laughter and tears, we’ve shared the night,
You’ve been my confidant, my partner true,
A bond between us, forever shining through.
So here’s to you, dear Xix, my snake friend,
A quarter century, our hearts will never end,
I thank you for the memories, the love and the fun,
Forever entwined, our hearts, as one.
