Gwen, My Guardian Ghost

category

Growing up, I struggled in school’s embrace
Grades faltered, and my future’s pace
Seemed dimmed by doubts, and fears’ dark shade
Until the day, we moved to a new place

A new apartment, with walls so bright
Marked a turning point, in my academic flight
And there I met Gwen, a girl so fair
With eyes that shone, like stars in the air

But Gwen was troubled, by sleep’s sweet flight
Her eyes were heavy, her soul in constant fight
She’d stay awake, while I slept soundly on
Watching over me, like an angel, all night long

She’d prepare my notes, and tomorrow’s test
Precise and neat, with a ghostly quest
I’d wake to find, her work done with care
And thank her silently, with a grateful prayer

Gwen, my ghost roommate, a friend so true
A guardian angel, who watched over me, too
Though she didn’t sleep, her spirit remained bright
Guiding me through, the darkest of nights

Together we’d share, the same small space
But while I slept, she’d keep her vigil, with grace
And when I’d wake, to a new morning’s light
Gwen’s watchful eyes, would shine with delight

Her presence was real, though her form was not
A gentle soul, who helped me find my way, no doubt
And though we parted, when our paths did stray
Gwen, my ghost roommate, will always be my guide, each day.
