Hrvoje Smolcic moves to Linz

The 23-year-old is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt and will be moving to Austrian first division club LASK on loan for one year.
Hrvoje Smolcic came to the Main in the summer of 2022 from the Croatian first division club HNK Rijeka and has since played 32 competitive games with the eagle on his chest. In the 2023/24 season, the versatile defensive player made 18 appearances in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League.

For the upcoming 2024/25 season, the Croatian will join Linzer ASK on loan. The club from Upper Austria finished the last championship round in the Admiral Bundesliga in third place behind champions Sturm Graz and Salzburg, thus safely qualifying for the UEFA Conference League and the qualifying round for the UEFA Europa League.

Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche: “Eintracht Frankfurt was Hrvoje Smolcic’s first stop abroad, and he has continued to develop with us over the past two years. He is a strong player, both technically and in tackles and heading, who always puts himself at the service of the team in training and in games. He is still young and should take the next step in his development in Linz next season – regular playing time is extremely important for this.”
