Most times we often hear of ants infestation, mosquito infestation, there’s another to the list, it is Hunger Infestation.
#Nigeria and Africa in general is home to hundreds of hungry children and of course the hungry middle class and the elite – Hunger Infestation.
Often times in the news, we see people of different colours supporting Africa and feeding Nigerian children with aids from good hearts resident abroad, but we don’t get to see more of Nigerians feeding Nigerians.
The truth is Nigerians feed Nigerians, and today we want you all to #meet Calista Nwabueze. By every possible definition she is a beautiful woman, and she has taken her beautiful nature to the streets of Awka, feeding children in their numbers.
About Reassuringlives and feeding the streets of Awka in Calista’s words
We (basically myself and close friends) at Reassuringlives fed the streets, especially hungry children, this year, precisely in February, 2024. We hosted it at Aroma/Ifite Awka.
Feeding others is a lot of work. There’s a lot of evident financial implications, how did you scale through, considering the economy and your studies? It’s a recurring trend for parents and well wishers to send money and food items to students in Nigerian Universities, but here you’re active in philanthropy. You already have enough food, right?
Not like I had much but I do it because of the happiness and joy I get from doing it.
Giving is such a rewarding activity.
I feel sincerely satisfied whenever I’m able to put a smile on someone’s face making their day a memorable one. By virtue of being a Nigerian in Nigeria, you’re either going through a lot or a lot is going through your mind. So putting a smile on people’s faces eases the burden for the giver and receiver alike.
Speaking of putting smiles on people’s faces, nothing puts smiles on people’s faces in Nigeria than food ( especially, party jollof rice).
Calista Nwabueze, what inspires you?
What inspires me the most is the positive impact we bring to the lives of people. Small things matter. Most times, we feel we aren’t yet ready to give. But giving is a necessity no matter how minute it may seem
When Reassuringlives fed children in Awka, many people had no ray of hope that Day buh we were able to make them smile through the event, the gratitude on their faces were just as inspiring as it could get.
Calista Nwabueze’s Reassuringlives is young and with limited funding, but they’re already breaking grounds. We pray other stakeholders come onboard to fix poverty in Nigeria.
At the international scene we found another organisation operating in
Kenya.
No Hungry Children. From their official statements, they have fed 14,000,000+ children in Africa.
One day, We will look at the numbers and see astronomical surge in the number of food served by Reassuringlives.
This is a beautiful contribution towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
