The Good Girl Within

category

In reckless crowds, you now reside
With black jackets, and boys, who drive and hide
Their true selves, behind a façade of pride
But I know, deep down, you’re still inside

The good girl, with a heart so pure and bright
We instilled virtues, that shone like a light
Compassion, kindness, and a gentle grace
Can’t be erased, by a rebellious phase

Though you may try, to conceal your light
It still shines on, like a beacon in flight
Guiding you back, to the path you once knew
Leading you home, to the love that’s always true

So don’t let go, of the girl you used to be
She’s still within, waiting to be free
From the shadows, that try to conceal
The beauty and goodness, that we once revealed.

Note: This poem is a message from a parent or guardian to a young person who has strayed from their virtuous path, reminding them that their inherent goodness and purity are still within them, and can’t be completely erased by their current rebellious behavior.
