To my lovely daughter and son – a poem

category

A photo on my chest, a bulletproof embrace
In every combat, a love that time and space won’t erase
I fight for a safer world, for you both to grow
Though I may miss milestones, know my love will always glow

I may not be there to watch you grow tall
Or help with homework, through it all
But in my heart, you’re always near
And my love for you, my children, casts out every fear

Though duty calls me far away
Know that I’m fighting for a brighter day
For you, my children, and all to see
A world where love and peace reign supreme, wild and free.
