Tears of Hunger

category

In a ghetto’s shadows, where hope does fade,
    A child’s cry echoes, a heart betrayed,
Empty eyes, sunken, with a deep despair,
A tiny body, wracked with hunger’s pain and care.

Tears fall like rain, on a face so small,
A reflection of the struggles, beyond them all,
A cry for sustenance, for a morsel to share,
A plea for compassion, in a world that’s unfair.

In this desolate scene, a future’s at stake,
A childhood lost, for a meal to partake,
The cry of the hungry, a call to our soul,
A reminder of the love, that makes us whole.
