What do people really see when they are outside Nigeria?
This question is thought provoking.
People outside Nigeria see our music, our military, our education, our democracy and lots more.
They see all we do, though not in real time, but through different lenses and filters.
Considering Nigeria being a popular name in the world, why do we still have shortage of foreigners here?
Why do we have little or no international students in our institutions?
Why do we have fewer international athletes in our sporting teams?
There are Military men and women in USA with Nigerian blood running through their veins, but I’m yet to personally see and touch a foreigner in our military.
These shortage in foreign exchange has a long lasting relationship with what lenses and filters the world see us from.
With Goals Initiative, we are raising an Army of storytellers, people who will portray us in all our positivity.
We believe that if a child in California gets to read a sweet Nigerian AI inspired story with sweet Igbo pet names like “Ike bobo” or “Nma” he’ll one day nurture the urge to study in Nigeria.
What about our institutions? Can they accommodate foreign exchange?
The institutions here are good enough to host international students, we just need the right amount of money to build laboratories, libraries and most important, waterfalls.
Everyday I see adverts of “Study in Canada” I’m yet to see “Study in Nigeria”
Which is why we should all be part of the Goals Initiative.
Students as well as teachers and their schools will benefit massively from this initiative because a lot of careers will jumpstart amongst them.
We believe it is time we tell our stories.
