Goals Initiative is important because it helps improve student’s academic performance.
Some students or schools may worry that participating in Goals Initiative may take away part of their time from their schoolwork, thus hurting their grades; however, that is not true, because our initiative improves student’s overall outlook on school!
Participating in activities student’s are passionate about, like sports, creative writing and music increases their brain function, and help them concentrate and manage their time better, all of which contribute to higher grades. High endurance sports, for example, will train them to focus and build stamina in the face of intense difficulty.
This gives them an advantage when it comes to studying and taking exams.
Lots of studies have been conducted on the relationship between non classroom activities and academic performance, and they all show that students who participate in them have higher grades, more positive attitudes toward school and higher academic aspirations.
2. Explore Interests and Create Broader Perspectives
Goals Initiative is important because it help broaden student’s experience and perspectives.
When students participate, they get the opportunity to explore a range of interests and unlock passions they never knew they had! Plus, diversifying their interests broadens their worldview.
Think about it this way: if they join a leadership club, they’ll begin to look at the world through the eyes of a budding leaders.
3. Higher Self-esteem
Goals Initiative is important because it leads to higher self esteem.
When they succeed in the activities they love, their self-confidence will improve. For example, let’s say they’re really good at essay writing and their English teacher encourages them to get involved in competitions. They decide to join the school team and start training for the our Essay Olympiad. They’ll realize how fun essay writing can be and how talented they actually are during the process, which gives their confidence a massive boost.
Plus, knowing that beyond getting paper marks, that their works will be featured and seen internationally on our website and magazine.
4. Social Opportunities
Goals Initiative is important because it exposes students to social opportunities.
Let’s be honest. Making friends can be challenging, but one of the easiest ways is through our initiative. Each non classroom activity provides them with another opportunity to expand their social network.
Eg, writers from a particular school gets to know other writers exist in nearby schools. It makes their writing journey easier, because they will have access to peer reviews.
5. Essential Life Skills
Goals Initiative is important because it gives students essential life skills.
On top of all the benefits of our initiative, we already discussed, one of the greatest advantages available is that it gives students “real world” skills.
These skills include (but are not limited to): Goal setting, Teamwork, Time management, Prioritisation, Problem-solving, Analytical thinking, Leadership, and Public speaking.
